Record the appointment. The note writes itself into RxWorks.
Your RxWorks appointment list appears in Whippet Notes — running on your own practice server. Choose the appointment, record the consult, and the finished clinical note is written back to that patient's consult record.
- Included on every plan

What the sync does,
as you experience it.
Your day is already in there
Choose your clinic, then your consult room, then the appointment. Whippet fills in the patient's name and hands the AI the breed, species, age, client name and appointment type so it isn't guessing. Both fields stay editable.
The note goes back on its own
When the consult finishes processing, Whippet writes the clinical note into the consult record for that appointment in RxWorks. If RxWorks already has a consultation for the appointment or for the day's visit, Whippet adds to that one rather than creating a second.
Edit in Whippet, and it re-syncs
Change the note later and Whippet sends it again automatically — there's no "resend" to remember. Whippet only ever touches the block it wrote; anything typed into the consult record by hand stays exactly where it is, and the consultation keeps its original date so the patient's chart doesn't re-order.
Your server, your data path
RxWorks usually runs on hardware in your practice. Whippet connects to it directly over your own API user — we don't route your records through anyone else's system.
Each consult carries a live status: queued, syncing, synced with the time it landed, or failed. Failed syncs retry on their own.
The clinical note. Your client summary and billable-item list stay in Whippet, where you can copy or send them from the consult.
Connected in one email,
not one project.
- 1
Tell us you're on RxWorks
Email hello@whippetnotes.com with your practice name, or say so when you sign up.
- 2
Covetrus sets up a partner API user for your practice
They send through the details for your practice.
- 3
Your IT allows one address through
Because RxWorks lives on your server, your IT (or your hosting provider) allows Whippet's single fixed address to reach it. We give you the address; it's one line in a firewall rule.
- 4
We switch it on and test it
The clinic, room and appointment selectors then appear on your recording screen.
There is no integration fee.
RxWorks sync is included in Whippet Notes on every plan — free, individual and practice. It isn't an add-on, it isn't a levy per clinic, and it isn't the reason to move up a tier.
Questions vets ask about this one
Is there an extra cost for the RxWorks integration? +
No. It's included on every Whippet Notes plan, including the free one. There's no add-on fee and no per-clinic charge.
Can I try the integration during my free trial? +
Yes. The integration isn't tied to a plan, so a trial practice syncs the same way a paying one does.
How long does it take to set up? +
The work is getting API access from Covetrus and us switching it on — there's nothing to install at your clinic and no change to your RxWorks configuration.
Do I need technical knowledge to set this up? +
Only one small thing: because RxWorks runs on your practice's own server, whoever looks after your IT allows Whippet's fixed address through the firewall. It's a single rule, and we tell you exactly what to send them. Everything else is on our side.
